Does this sound like you?
You move through each day focused on the task at hand. Autopilot has become your new normal. Ignoring your needs and feeling a bit disconnected from yourself gets you through the day. Racing thoughts come in waves but you’ve had practice keeping it to yourself; retreating inwards when the thoughts get too big. Across your life you’ve been labeled as dramatic, overly sensitive, or “too much”. Not wanting to “burden” others with the things that bother you. You’re showing up to work, school, for your family, friends, and your partner; but who shows up for you? You spend a lot of time thinking about thinking and moving toward the next box on your checklist. Progress, Perfection, Performance. Does this sound like you? The strong one, the caretaker, the one that holds everything together.
You’re feeling stuck. Maybe you’re navigating through a new season in life, exploring a new part of your identity, or settling into a new role. You’re not quite sure who you are anymore. You want to be yourself. You want to be most authentic and then you think about all the expectations that are placed on you. Are you living up to the person that they thought you would be? The anxiety of making choices and figuring out “who you’re supposed to be” or “what you’re supposed to do” feels heavy and you notice your current strategies aren’t working as well as they used to.
You however are not a stranger to change, hard work, or adversity. You’ve battled many things across your life whether it be family dynamics, social isolation, anxious thoughts, difficult romantic relationships, setting boundaries or advocating for yourself. You’ve done this AND you have come out on the other side. Coping by pushing down feelings or pushing down those unwanted thoughts that just “get in the way”. Quietly locking away the things you don’t want to talk about or the things you believe others don’t want to hear. Keep moving, keep striving, keep pushing.
But now you’re ready. You’re ready to explore. You’re ready to prioritize yourself. You’re ready to make meaning, untangle your thoughts, examine old patterns, past wounds, and to figure out what you truly want. Look at you taking a step towards seeking help. Feeling connected to yourself, finding your people, reaching your goals, and living with greater flexibility is possible. You are one step closer to living in alignment with your values and your authentic self. The truth is, we can’t shame ourselves into authentic change. Authenticity starts with you. Dare to be vulnerable, curious, and to take your needs as seriously as you do the needs of others. The journey will surprise you.
Can Therapy Help?
In my role as a therapist, I truly believe that you are the expert of your experiences and I am working alongside you to identify themes, goals, provide tools, and to co-create a safe space to explore. We work together to center your experience and travel toward healing. Healing rarely occurs in isolation. You can think of therapy as providing guidance, tools, normalization, and a big picture perspective. Within the context of a safe therapeutic relationship we will work to develop insight and action toward your goals.
How can I help?
My style is relational, structured yet flexible, and ultimately client centered. We go at your pace and focus on the things that are most important to you. My goal is to challenge you, explore with you, develop new insights, and put those insights into action. I aim to be my authentic self in sessions using a relational and client centered approach that is tailored to you. I tend to pull from strengths based, solution focused, and feminist-multicultural modalities to best support you. We’ll work together to make sense of things, make peace with old wounds, and build new possibilities.
When I'm not at Work
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, creating a new craft, getting in some movement, tending to my plants, or diving into a new audiobook.
