Does this sound like you?

If you experienced deep emotional wounds, either as a child or adult, and never got a chance to process or treat it adequately, life may have felt overwhelming and unpredictable. Chronic anxiety, panic attacks, flashbacks and intrusive memories of horrific event, avoidance of everything that triggers past memory, nightmares, fatigue, trying to avid anything that triggers those past experiences, dealing with nightmares, battling fatigue, and turning to unhealthy coping mechanisms that only provide temporary relief but ultimately worsen your situation. If any of this resonates with you, it’s a sign you’ve been through enough, and it’s time to embrace change.

After experiencing so much pain, you long for a sense of safety and stability. You want to rebuild trust and be able to form and enjoy meaningful, supportive connections with others. You seek healing and growth, hoping to find meaning and purpose in what you’ve been through. You wanted to gain control of your life, again. But whenever you try to commit to change, fear holds you back. “What if I get hurt again? What if I face abandonment or rejection once more? What if my emotions become too much to handle?” You might even fear losing yourself without the trauma—it’s been a part of you for so long, after all.

It’s likely you’ve had countless sleepless nights, staying up searching for answers to your struggles: Have I experienced trauma? Am I dealing with PTSD? How can I heal from this? How do I stop the nightmares? Why do I feel so worthless? You’re desperately seeking ways to reclaim your strength and find empowerment.

Like everyone, you juggle many roles in your life. You might be a caregiver or protector for your loved ones—whether as a mother, father, sister, or brother. You might be an employee, a business owner, or someone with other responsibilities. Like all of us, you wear many hats throughout the day. But despite all that, the unwanted memories of the past continue to hold you back from becoming the best version of yourself. On a good day, you might catch glimpses of temporary peace and safety, especially when you’re away from the things that trigger you. It could be when you’re with a supportive partner, taking a walk with your dog on a quiet trail, or watching your kids play carefree. Yet, you know that the next flashback or nightmare is always just around the corner. It’s hard to truly relax, never knowing when those old memories would resurface. The overwhelming emotions make you want to shut them out.

CAN THERAPY HELP?

I’m glad you’re actively seeking help and have found your way here. If you’re wondering whether therapy might be the right step for you, I encourage you to consider if you’re experiencing what I call the “2Ds”: dysfunction and distress.
Dysfunction means that your struggles are interfering with your ability to function in different areas of your life. For example, maybe intrusive thoughts are making it hard to focus at work, or you can’t fully connect in your intimate relationships because trust is hard to rebuild.
Distress refers to emotional pain. If you’d regularly rate your emotional distress 7 or higher on a scale of 1 to 10, it might be a sign that you’re ready for support.

With your countless attempts to change that haven’t worked, I completely understand why you feel stuck and hopeless. I would feel the same way. Yet, in the midst of this struggle, you’re still here, reading this and seeking help. You haven’t given up. (Please take a moment to give yourself a gentle pat on the back. 🙂 ) I’m so glad we’ve crossed paths here. Having worked with many people who’ve faced the same struggles as you, I want to reassure you: recovery is possible. In fact, when the right intention meets the right approach, improvement isn’t just possible—it’s almost inevitable. THIS CAN BE YOU.

Right now, I invite you to think back to a time when you felt confident and in control—whether in your relationships, studies, or career. I want you to imagine that feeling of confidence and reassurance are with you every day.  Imagine what it would be like to trust yourself fully and be authentic in your relationships. What if you could reclaim a sense of purpose from your past and use it to help others who are facing similar struggles?

Numerous empirical and clinical studies have shown that working through trauma is not only possible but highly achievable. In fact, many clients begin to feel better within the first month, and a significant number report noticeable improvement after just 6 to 8 sessions. If you give yourself the chance and allow therapy to heal your past wounds, you’ll be amazed at what you discover. You likely have strengths within you that you haven’t yet recognized. In fact, by seeking help and refusing to give up, you’re already demonstrating incredible resilience. Together, in therapy, we’ll uncover these hidden strengths and begin to unlock the gifts you carry within.

How I can help…

I believe the most effective way to help trauma survivors navigate their inner battles is by guiding them to gradually confront and process the painful memories, emotions, and situations in a safe and controlled way. I often refer to this process as “facing your demons” or “confronting your shadows.” But let me reassure you: you are not alone in this journey. I will be right beside you as you learn to gradually reduce the emotional intensity and distress tied to those traumatic experiences. Together, we’ll create a step-by-step approach, starting with the least overwhelming situations or memories, and work through them one at a time. This way, you won’t be thrown into the deep end, but you’ll still be challenging yourself and growing, gently pushing the boundaries of your comfort zone. In this process, you’ll gain two key things: new understanding and new experiences. With new understanding, you’ll challenge the distorted beliefs that trauma often creates, such as shame or guilt, and uncover a healthier, more functional sense of self. Along with this, you’ll also gain new experiences—practical, effective, and grounded coping strategies. These strategies will not only help you process the specific trauma we work through in therapy, but will also serve you in real-life situations, helping you maintain your healing and continue to grow.

I work best with clients who have a strong desire to change their current circumstances. Recognizing that there is a problem is a significant first step, and it takes tremendous commitment and courage to get to that point. It also requires the right tools and strategies to turn the transformation you’ve been longing for into reality. This is where I, as a trauma-informed psychologist, can be of service. I’m excited to team up with you and witness the incredible growth that lies ahead.

I want to leave you with my personal motto as a mental health professional: If I didn’t believe people could heal and get better, I would never have chosen this path.
