Does this sound like you?
On an individual level, you might find yourself getting caught up in the what-ifs or what could’ve been. You become so overwhelmed by the things on your plate that you slip into inaction. You can’t recall the last time you felt self-assured or confident in your decision-making. You’re having a hard time making sense of those heavy feelings that come up in your body. You feel mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually exhausted even after doing acts of self-care.
On an interpersonal level, maybe you’re constantly dreading those plans you happily agreed to at first. You don’t feel aligned with relationships or work like you used to. You’re having trouble cultivating a sense of community and belonginess. You find it tough to identify and maintain relational boundaries. Or you feel at a loss trying to make sense of the world around you.
Even amidst the inner turmoil and external stressors, taking the step to consider sharing this pain with another person through such a vulnerable experience requires courage and you’re exercising that right now.
Can Therapy Help?
For many of us, showing vulnerability meant being subjected to rejection, ridicule, exploitation, judgement, neglect, abandonment, or even harm. Because of that, we may find it scary or nearly impossible to share some of our most tender parts to the world or even to ourselves. But have you ever wondered what it could be like on the other side of fear? To be met with compassion, curiosity, safety, and even a little bit of humor, rather than harm and cruelty? Therapy can be tough, scary work, but the outcomes can be life changing for you and those within your orbit. This can be an opportunity to gain a deeper sense of autonomy and empowerment in deciding how you want to live, and truly become the author of your own story and support others in their own story making.
How can I help?
As a queer, Black & Indigenous person, I believe it is imperative that we examine and honor the root of our suffering while celebrating our individual and collective identities. But to do that, we must feel cared for, supported, and empowered. When we feel empowered, we can make decisions about what we may need and how we may want to heal. It is then that we may be able to find deeper healing and connection outside of the therapy room and in community.
As a therapist, my style of counseling is foremost holistic, collaborative, and client-centered so that your personal needs and goals shape our work together. It is through collaboration and getting to know each other that we will determine what “intervention(s)” may work best for you and your own journey! I find that humor and curiosity are powerful antidotes to use during an individual’s journey of healing.
Motivated by the power of kinship, I am dedicated in providing essential mental health resources to members of historically marginalized groups to highlight the importance of community, care, connection, and our shared humanity in the individual and collective healing process. I invite you to get to know more about me, the communities I love, and to connect.
When I'm not at Work
You can find me exploring the city in search of the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants, visiting museums and art galleries with friends, tending to my variety of houseplants, or reading manga/comics that I’ve picked up from the local library.
