LPC Associates
Early Career Professionals
(We are no longer accepting applications for our Jan. '26 cohort as we are overwhelmed with the amazing applicants we've received and are well into the interview process. If still interested, keep an eye on the site for May and September cohorts. Although we value all licenses, we only currently have the supervision resources for LPC-Associates, not LCSWs or LMFT-Associates at this time)
Work with us
Do you want to make the most of your supervision experience before full licensure?
Congratulations on finishing your Master’s degree. Whew, what a huge accomplishment! Now that you are looking for a supervisor/site, you might feel excited, overwhelmed, unsure, or all of the above.
Dallas Therapy Collective launched our Early Career Professionals Program in the Fall of 2022 to help Associates navigate the transition from graduate clinician to Early Career Professional. Our hope is to provide continued opportunties for integration of your knowledge and experience as you continue to learn and work with clients.
Our program will offer you the support of seasonsed clinicians as you transition from the graduate clinician identity into a fully licensed professional. Our goal is to prepare you to feel confident to launch into independent practice by the time you complete your required residency hours.
Nitty Gritty Details
Supervision
We provide your weekly 1-hour supervision with a board-approved LPC-Supervisor who is affiliated with Dallas Therapy Collective. You don’t have to worry about a conflict of interest regarding money. DTC will pay your supervisor directly regardless of your productivity, thereby eliminating a potential conflict of interest and freeing you to be more open about your clinical work and maximizing your supervision experience.
Weekly training, supervision, and consultation
Associates in our ECP program are trained together with doctoral practicum students in psychology and make up what we call a cohort. We believe this interdisciplinary training benefits people pursuing both LPC and psychologist licenses. We typically have 2 prac students and 2-3 Associates in a given semester.
On top of your individual supervision, you will have three additional hours (weekly) of opportunities for integration. Supervision and staff meetings happen year-round, and the programming below occurs during the Fall and Spring semesters:
- You will attend our weekly staff consultation meeting where all of our clinicians are invited to come and disuss cases as needed/desired. We hope you will feel comfortable to share about your own cases as well as absorb and contribute to consultation about others’ cases. (This meeting is held on Wednesdays at 2:00 and is a hybrid meeting.)
- You will receive weekly 1-hour didactic trainings presented by DTC therapists and other community therapists. Past trainings have included topics such as addressing intersectionality, trauma-informed care, working with LGBTQAI+ clients, religious trauma, Motivational Interviewing, assessment, neurodivergence, trauma-sensitive yoga, IFS, couples therapy, theory-focused trainings, and more.
- You will receive 1 hour of group supervision with your cohort. Some weeks will be scheduled, formal presentations and others will be open ended consultations for those who wish to share that week. On days you are assigned to present, you may be expected to show a segment of a recorded session as a part of the presentation. Â (Our didactics/group-supervisions will be held in person on Fridays from 10am-12pm.)
Aaron Williams, LPC, is our Training Director and will be with the cohort on Fridays, serving as the group facilitator.Â
Learn how to "do" private practice
There is so much that goes into private practice. We will help you learn the ins-and-outs of the business, marketing, finances, clinical pace, and help you identify your ideal clients and what works best for you in private practice.
We accept some insurance and a few panels allow for supervisory billing for LPC-Associates. Although DTC shields you from the burden of creating invoices, billing copays and deductibles, and chasing down insurance denials and issues, you will learn about the pros and cons of taking insurance and how to appropriately navigate the logistics of accepting insurance.Â
By the time you are fully licensed, our goal is for you to feel ready and confident remain in a group practice setting or to launch into your own private practice, should you wish to do so.Â
Our values at DTC
- Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Trauma-informed work as we understand the ways in which adverse life experiences impact the mind, body, and spirit
- Honoring our clients' and our own cultural identities and intersectionality and exploring how cultural identities impact experiences in life, including adversity, privilege, and marginalization
- Ethical and intentional care pursuant to the highest standards outlined in our individual ethics codes and industry standards
- On-going learning within our own fields and about how our fields can work together to enhance client care
Compensation
- We are hiring our Associates as W2 employees on a fee for service basis, compensating $57 per 53 minute session for the first year. We expect that you will work toward scheduling 25 clients per week on average. We cover a porton of health benefits, life insurance, and give you access to vision and dental. We offer a 401K plan with a 4% match and $500 annual for continuing education. We also cover your Psychology Today profile, include you on our marketing materials, and cover your malpractice insurance. When comparing offers, please take into consideration the difference betweeen 1099 contractor models and W2 employement models as we offer benefits and cover the employer portion of your taxes.Â
