Does this sound like you?

You feel guilty all day every day. For everything you do. Everything you say. Everything you think. You feel alone and afraid to fully let down your walls and show all of yourself to other people. You feel like you’re different or flawed (a bad person at your core), and that if you showed people all of your true self, it would disgust or repel them.

You’re the most indecisive person you know. You’re terrified of making a mistake or choosing the wrong thing. Opportunities pass you by in life because you just can’t make up your mind. You rarely make a decision without running it by someone else first or getting the approval of a person who feels wiser and more qualified than you. You can’t trust yourself and typically assume everyone else knows better.

You grew up in an environment where you weren’t allowed to be your true self. You received clear messaging of all the things you must be in order to be acceptable, but no one ever really explained why. There was no room for doubts, critical thinking or questioning the status quo. You tried so hard to be good and obedient and earnestly seek the life path you were told was the one true way, but over time you couldn’t deny all of the doubts that were piling up in your head. It was scary to have these thought because you were told over and over that if you didn’t make a conscious choice to choose this one true life path, real and terrifying consequences awaited you.

On top of all of this, you’re so lonely. You feel so misunderstood and like there’s no one you can really talk to about your true thoughts safely. In the past when you found the courage to voice your questions you often felt dismissed or invalidated by those in your community. Even those who mean well still don’t really understand or “get it”.

As your belief system crumbled, your feelings of fear, hopelessness and worry increased. You don’t know where to turn or who to lean on. It feels like your world got turned upside down and the rug was pulled out from under you. You know that the loss of your former worldview wasn’t a choice, and realize that you’re now grieving so many things that you once depended on to help you get through life.

Despite the fact that you’ve been struggling with all these intense feelings of shame, doubt, fear, isolation, and grief for so long… here you are reading this page and wondering if life could be better.

Can Therapy Help?

Healing IS possible. You can lose parts or even all of the belief system you were raised with and still live a fulfilled, rich and meaningful life. What would it be like to live in alignment with your personal truth and also feel more content and at peace than ever before? There is nothing more empowering for my clients than the moment they begin trusting and tuning into their own inner wisdom and intuition, rather than relying on their old habits of finding guidance and safety outside of themselves. If you’re open to taking baby steps towards treating yourself with curiosity and kindness, instead of the self-hate and judgment you’ve been conditioned to wield against yourself for so long, you’ll be amazed at the way your confidence will soar.

As an “ex-vangelical” Christian (and current agnostic atheist), I’ve experienced my own “deconstruction” journey first-hand. Though it may feel like your world is falling apart right now, I’m here to vouch for the true peace that comes from embracing your authentic self and beliefs. Nothing is more self-esteem building than learning to love yourself and to have your own back.

How I can help…

I’m so excited for you that you’ve taken this step to care for yourself in seeking out therapy. It takes courage to follow your instincts and reach out for help, especially if you’re not used to feeling safe revealing your true thoughts to another person, or have been taught that secular therapy is dangerous or wrong. Though you may find this hard to believe right now, you have all the resources you need to cope with life’s hardships already within you! It would be my absolute honor to sit with you, witness your true thoughts and the pain you’ve experienced, and work together as a team to help you find new coping skills, psychological peace and a sense of safety within yourself. You’ve carried the weight of shame, fear and feeling misunderstood all alone for so long now, and my goal is to walk alongside you and help you lift and throw off those burdens. I adore understanding my clients at their core, validating their uniquely wonderful thoughts and emotions, and watching their relationship with themselves transform as they learn to trust and love themselves more and more over time.

When I’m not at work…

I can be found singing Renaissance Polyphony, blasting rap music, sourcing sushi, sipping cold brew, listening to podcasts, binging Bravo, spending quality time with my loved ones, reading up on therapeutic topics, or trying new restaurants with friends!
